Happy 80th Birthday! by elliott on Blogster

I have a wonderful mother-in-law, Hilda Beedle(formerly a Feigenbutz).

I was able to fly back to Oakland, Iowa to help celebrate her 80th birthday along with 180 others from family to friends. Hilda insisted we have enough cake, so I thought I would photograph the cakes!! We took two pieces up to a nursing home for a former teacher of Hilda's the day after the celebration.

Here go a few pics. Family, friends, and health are the main assets we have, aren't they?

If I live to be 80 years old, and the future 18 years go as fast as the last 18 years, I will be there in no time! Moral: Make each day count!!

The old saying that the man marries into the wife's family is especially true in my case. My mother and father were quite old when they had us kids and my mother has been gone now for nearly 25 years. Thanks for your birthday wish for a very fine lady[THUMBUP][HEART]

Yes, she is a great lady! My father advised me onetime when I was courting another "girl," to not get too serious until you meet her mother. Well, I did and decided against getting too involved with this person. However, when I met my wife Gloria now of 37 years, I waited and met Gloria's mother. That clinched it for me, meeting Hilda. She has been a mother to me in the best sense of the word! Thanks for your comments. Hope you can continue to your strength back after your hospitalization. Let me know how it goes. Will Robert commute to Tucson? or will you move?[HEART]

Ben is the younger son(to be 30 next month). And, yes he and family are in transit as I post this. Jon, you see in the picture, is the older son who lives in Las Vegas, but is moving to Morro Bay!!! I think a parepetic life style is in vogue these days! Jon has plans to manage the Chem Dry business via computer and GPS from Morro Bay monitoring Las Vegas. I am leery of this plan, but what control do I have of a 33 year old[SMILE]

Thanks for your positive comments. I sent these photos and a few others to Hilda, after getting them developed at Walgreens. She has been a great mother-in-law and still gives of her time to help all, even the distant relatives!

Thanks for coming by and YES, she had a great time, staying right at the guest book so she didn't miss anyone(and their names!!). Finally, at the end of the celebration, she got to have a big piece of cake herself and her favorite drink: black coffee!

I will try to visit your site more often. Pink is quite a color isn't it? I have never worn this color, but think more of us men should to project love and calmness which I think this color represents[THUMBUP][HEART]

I just got a nice card from her thanking me for helping with her 80th birthday party and thanking me for the pictures I sent her which are shown above.
